- Working closely with the Oakland Unified School District, the museum’s Education staff provides more than 40 school programs serving students in grades K-12 from the nine Bay Area counties.

- Programs are accessible to all visitors, including people with special needs and visitors with limited English proficiency.
- Trained volunteer docents offer regularly scheduled daily tours of the permanent and temporary exhibit galleries.
- Youth interpreters, junior guides, and community guides supplement the docent corps with spotlight tours of special exhibitions.
