The African-American Advisory Council and the Women’s Board are just two ways the museum engages its communities. When exhibits are reinstalled after the campaign, the new museum won’t just reflect what the experts think; it will show our input.
I’m proud of the way the museum celebrates Black History Month. And What’s Going On?— California and the Vietnam Era was an incredible event— confronting and gut-wrenching. It took courage to put it on. I was too young to feel the impact of the Vietnam War, but the exhibition really put it in perspective, for California and for the country.
