I was born in 1961, and grew up next to SF State, going to elementary school on the grounds of the University. Watching the '60's unfold, as a child, was a very strange experience. Having an older sister, I was exposed to a lot of unusual characters. Bussing began during those years, and every anti-war protest of the time was there for all us little kids to see.

There was one memorable time when helicopters landed near my house, and soldiers came out, and marched towards the University. So much of American history happened right in front of me - and then I moved to Ireland two weeks before Bloody Sunday happened! Being a kid in the Bay Area in the '60's was a long strange trip.
