Tofu, Museum Member

When I get together with other artists we often “talk shop.” When the subject of museums and galleries come up I love to toss out the question, “What’s the best museum in San Francisco?” It’s a question that is always greeted with a certain amount of hesitation and debate. There is not a universal response.

Then I like to ask, “Well, what about the Oakland Museum of California?” Everyone who knows, knows. We all nod in agreement. The museum is definitely different things for different people. And one thing that OMCA is, it is the artist’s art museum.

I particularly like taking out of town visitors or local friends who have never visited the museum. It instantly becomes a favorite.
