As the former director of the Bay Area Discovery Museum, Lori Fogarty led fundraising efforts for the $19.5 million My Place By The Bay capital campaign. She was previously with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art where she became Senior Deputy Director and Acting Director.
Louise Pubols
Chief Curator, History
Louise Pubols is the former lead curator of the Autry National Center’s Museum of the American West’s collection reinstallation. Pubols received her BA in art history from Brown University; MA from UC Santa Barbara in public history; and PhD from the University of Wisconsin, studying early California.
Douglas Long
Chief Curator, Natural Sciences
Formerly chair of the Department of Ornithology and Mammalogy at the California Academy of Sciences, Douglas Long received his MA in paleontology and PhD in integrative biology, both from UC Berkeley.
Barbara Henry
Chief Curator, Education
Chief Curator of Education since 1988, Barbara Henry has over 20 years experience in the development and implementation of museum education programs. She holds an M.A.T. in museum education from George Washington University and a BA in art history from UC Berkeley.
Phil Linhares
Chief Curator, Art
Phil Linhares has 39 years of experience in the museum field, including work as Director of Exhibitions for the San Francisco Art Institute and Director of Mills College Art Gallery. He holds a BFA and MFA from the California College of Art.
Kathy McLean
Principal, Independent Exhibitions
Kathy McLean serves as a key project consultant for the gallery reinstallation. As a nationally-acclaimed exhibit developer, she has worked with the Huntington Library and Botanic Gardens Conservatory, Ontario Science Center, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and National Park Service.
Mark Cavagnero
Principal Architect
Mark Cavagnero Associates, a San Francisco-based architecture firm, will help realize the design vision for the Museum. The firm has completed a wide range of cultural, education, and civic projects, including the master plan for UC Berkeley’s Bancroft Library and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor.
